For centuries, Christians marked the transition from summer to winter, growth to harvest, and light to dark with Michaelmas, the feast of St. Michael and the archangels. Invoking the strength of the Archangels, especially Michael, before the onset of winter, they commemorated the great victory of light over darkness and gave thanks for the aid and power of the celestial host.

Just days later on Friday, October 2nd, to celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels, the Higher Word Orchestra and Choir will open our season with a concert glorifying God through music of beauty and grandeur. The program features the works of Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bach, among others and evokes the splendor of the heavenly host, lifting our souls toward the throne of God.
