Mission and Vision
Mission Statement
We at Higher Word believe in elevating the standard of Catholic experiences in New York City by offering intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching events in unique settings—from discussions with a priest in a small group to a full symphony orchestra in a basilica. At our core, Higher Word shares God’s love: His Beauty, Truth, and Goodness.
Beauty
God is Beauty—we introduce Him.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Truth
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
God is Truth—we teach His Word.
Goodness
God is Goodness—we live like Him every day.
“Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)
What we believe
We believe that Beauty is a gift from God and a sign that encourages our souls to remember Heaven. Whether it is reflecting on Scripture, reading poetry, enjoying fellowship over food and wine, or by attending an orchestra concert, God shows His Beauty in many ways. At Higher Word, we believe it is essential to the Christian mission to catechize the world through Beauty.
Why we do it
We are motivated by the desire to create a community where people feel known, inspired, and intellectually engaged.
We believe in raising the bar for religious encounters and conversations by offering experiences that blend intellectual depth with cultural and social impact.
By elevating the standard of Catholic experiences in NYC, we hope to inspire individuals to delve deeper into their faith.
How we do it
We provide timeless perspectives on Catholic teaching in visually stunning and culturally rich settings.
Our events feature a blend of theological insights, music performances, discussions, social interactions, and other programming that together create a unique and uplifting NYC experience that appeals to both the intellect and the senses.
We have attracted and cultivated a very engaging group of speakers, performers, and especially attendees, both Catholic and non-Catholic alike, that has repeatedly led to inspiring events with unique takeaways, both broad and narrow.
